Listening to The Industry: Building a Better Path Forward
The Aztek Fire Safety and i-Trax® story began in 2020 during one of the most challenging periods for public safety operations. As COVID-19 disrupted normal business practices, it also exposed longstanding problems within the inspection, testing, and maintenance (ITM) process for life safety and property protection.
Authorities Having Jurisdiction (AHJ) and contractors were working hard to fulfill their responsibilities, yet the process was often made more difficult by gaps in license verification, limited ability to confirm physical presence and proximity to the inspected unit, non-standardized inspection forms, and fragmented contractor and AHJ operations. These challenges made the ITM process more arduous, more resource intensive, and more prone to errors and omissions.
Aztek already had a successful model that worked in other regulated disciplines. That foundation was enhanced to meet the unique needs of fire and life safety compliance, creating a platform designed to support better protection, stronger documentation, and improved operational visibility.
The objective was larger than digitizing inspection reports. i-Trax® was built to help connect contractors, AHJs, property owners, emergency responders, and insurers through a more structured and reliable source of information. With better data, property owners may have a stronger opportunity to demonstrate fire protection status and pursue better terms and conditions from the insurance industry as a whole.
What began as a practical response to operational challenges has evolved into a broader mission: modernizing fire safety compliance through standardized workflows, verified data, and actionable intelligence that can support safer buildings, stronger accountability, and better outcomes for communities.
